Bible Use Help

Note: The right-clicking features only work in Internet Explorer currently. We'll send you an update when this is fixed.

Beginning a Search

[go to search]
First, type in the word, words, or phrase that you would like to search for in the search window. The results will appear in the scripture window. To view a particular scripture in its chapter context, left click on the arrow to the left of the scripture. For more info on how search works (and it's being worked on) click here.

While in the chapter window you can view previous and next chapters by clicking the appropriate arrows at the top of the chapter heading, or at the bottom of the page.

To return to the search results, choose the back arrow on your browser. (Or you can right click on the screen and left click on the back option.)

Adding to Favorites

While in the chapter window, left click on the verse that you would like to add. To select multiple verses hold down the control key and left click. The selected verses will show as highlighted. Right click on the selected verse(s) and a menu will come up. Left click on the “add to favorites” option. Now the favorites window will open. You can type in any notes you wish. Once complete click the ADD button at the top. You can also click previous to see previously added favorites. Favorites are sorted from newest to oldest.

Editing Favorites

To add more notes to a previously selected favorite: Double click on the desired scripture in the favorites column and the note window will open. Make changes/additions and click OK. (Another option is to right click on the desired scripture and then left click on the Open option. This will open up the favorites window where changes/additions can be made.)

To view notes you made on your favorites: mouse over the desired scripture in the favorites column and the notes will appear in a yellow box. You may also double click on the desired scripture and view notes from the favorites window. (Another option is to right click on the desired scripture and then left click on the open option.)

To delete a favorite scripture: Right click on the desired scripture and then left click on the option “ delete favorite” - you cannot undo this afterward.

Viewing Favorites

To view a previously selected favorite scripture, right click on it. Next, left click on the “Go Here” option. The scripture will appear in the scripture window.

Track your daily reading

When in the book window, you can also keep track of chapter you have read in a specific book. For example, perhaps you want to read through the book of Psalms. While in the chapter index for Psalms, right click on the beginning words of that chapter. Then left click on the “mark as read/unread” option. A check mark will appear to the left of the chapter.

If you right click on the chapter index window and left click on the “view read chapters” option, a list of read chapters will open, with the time and date they were read. Eventually the time will be accurate and you will be able to make comments here as well.

2006-01-24: Logins are now here! If you would like to participate please contact us by email. Once logged in you can add to favorites, mark chapters as read, add notes to verses, and the list is growing each week. We were so excited around here we were just about dancing, so we encourage you to participate and provide feedback.

2006-01-07: Added much nicer graphics on the top. There's potential but it will be reworked and refined. This is good enough now to begin beta testing.

2005-12-20: Added improvement in navigation; links at left just change the bible version without changing the location. Also last version you used is remembered for your next visit.

2005-11-06: Working on the layout and appearance now, after this my next project will be to set up the login feature.
